Both the flowers and seeds of the mahua tree are edible. Some tribes in Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh still use mahua oil in their cooking. Mahua oil has emollient properties and is used in skin disease, rheumatism and headache. It is also a laxative and considered useful in habitual constipation, piles and haemorrhoids. Flowers has been traditionally used as cooling agent, tonic, treatment of helminthes. They are also use for the treatment of bronchitis, tonsillitis and pharyngitis. Dried nahua flowers can be brought here.
