The Northern River Terrapin (Batagur baska) is a critically endangered, large Asian freshwater turtle known for its dramatic breeding color changes. They are surprisingly social for turtles, frequently found basking together in large groups. They are among the top 3 most endangered turtle species in the world, with fewer than 15 known mature females in the wild.
