Inspired by a real encounter in the forests of Gudalur, this design celebrates the peaceful coexistence between Adivasis and wildlife. Drawn to ripe jackfruits, an elephant used its forelegs and trunk to reach the fruit when it couldn’t shake the tree. The moment, cheered on by the community, captures the intelligence of elephants and the deep respect Adivasis share with the wildlife around them.
 
Each piece is constructed by hand through the intricate technique of felt-on-felt appliqué—a heritage craft method to create multi-dimensional landscapes and wildlife scenes. Creating a single cover requires a lot of direct hand labor, depending on the complexity of the illustration. Because every element is placed and sewn by hand, no two pieces are identical, resulting in a unique, artisanal home accent that balances durability with tactile beauty.

Handcrafted by the women of Urumala, an enterprise rooted in Gudalur Valley, each piece carries stories inspired by the Nilgiris Biosphere. For these women, who have grown up calling the forests their home, the wildlife, landscapes and everyday moments around them become stories that find their way into fabric.
